Summer is Ending.

It's hard to believe that in just two short weeks summer will be over and Peanut will be heading to her first year of preschool.  My baby.  She is certainly not a baby any longer, evident by her articulation, thought process, and accomplishments across several areas - education, gymnastics, swimming, etc.  This transition is a hard one for me, much more so than it is for her.  She is eagerly awaiting the first day of school, and I am looking forward to her growth as a young lady while also weeping for the days of her baby and toddler-hood.  It's so hard to watch your babies get big, even though that is the goal as a parent.

It is difficult to imagine dropping her off for four hours on her first day; her first time away from the watch of family (she's never had a babysitter that wasn't related).  I am sure she will have a wonderful time and enjoy meeting new friends and learning new things, but I am also pretty certain I will be crying after dropping her off because it's the beginning of an era of school.  Years and years of drop-offs await us.

A week after Peanut starts pre-school she begins dance class.  Her excitement for preschool is nothing compared to the enthusiasm she has for beginning dance.  I hope she loves it just as much as she thinks she will.  Almost daily I am entertained by dance recitals in my living room and I think she will be great with a little instruction since she has some pretty awesome instincts when it comes to dance already.

On the swimming front, Peanut is doing wonderfully with her freestyle but needs some work on the backstroke/back blast-off/back streamline stuff.  Once she has that she will pass level two and move on to level three.  She is already working on some of the skills needed for level three because she is capable of doing everything else on the level two sheet.

Bug has been great in swimming.  He is kicking more, he attempts to jump from the side still (more like a bounce since he doesn't actually leave his feet), and he has no problem putting his head under the water.  The only thing he really hasn't gotten down yet is blowing bubbles in the water - he can make the motion to blow bubbles in the air but once he puts his face in he opens his mouth to drink the water.  Ha ha.

Peanut has been working incredibly hard in gymnastics.  She practices a ton at home and has gotten really good at doing her left-handed cartwheel.  She definitely prefers the left-handed version to the right-handed version, but unfortunately at gymnastics class they almost always do the right-handed version.  She has become a pro at the backward roll over the past couple of weeks and is really coming into her own on the gymnastics front.  I am so proud of her!  The only problem is that she is testing limits lately, which has gotten her in trouble during class a couple of times.  Little stinker.

Buggy can start gymnastics in November, which is exciting.  I think he will like climbing on everything and causing chaos.  We are becoming a very busy family very quickly!  I like being busy but I hope we haven't bitten off more than we can chew so far.  I guess we will soon see.
