On Tuesday we went to a make-up lesson because of the holiday a few weeks ago. Miss Joyce was the coach Tuesday, and she did great with the kids. It was a good class to go to as a make-up because almost all of the kids were around the age of a year and a half to two.
Miss Joyce started the class with some stretching and bug exercises. The kids pretended to be a bunch of different bugs - bumble bees, inch worms/caterpillars, butterflies, etc. They also did straddle stretch, pike stretch, and v-sits. Miss Joyce did a good job of keeping the kids entertained by being upbeat and energetic.
After stretching, the kids did floor. They rolled down the wedge mat with bean bags, chirped like a cricket with cricket legs, jumped like a frog (Peanut finally understood how to do this - yay! She did great!), did back handspring exercises, smashed the bug, and did the handstand mat. Peanut did such a good job and sat in line with all of the other kids and participated.
From floor the class went to bars. Miss Joyce did things a little differently and Peanut really responded. On the low bar the kids grabbed on and touched their toes to the bar. Peanut hung on!!!!! All by herself!!! I wanted to cheer - Okay, I did cheer quietly :) I was so proud! Then she hung on the first uneven bar set to touch her feet to the butterflies and clap her legs together. YAY AGAIN!!!!! On the second uneven bar set she hung on a little bit but needed quite a bit of help. Still, great improvement for Peanut. SOOOOO PROUD! Peanut went through the rotation three times and did great each time!
Then the class went to beam. Forward roll on the floor beam, stepping over stars on the low beam, walking forward on the mid beam and then second time through walking side steps on the mid beam. Peanut was awesome again. She did the forward roll, she stepped over stars, and she walked forward like a pro. When it was time to side step she was trying to cross her legs over like the big kids do! She was so good :) She went through the beam rotation twice and then rested for a minute before going to trampoline.
At trampoline Miss Joyce tried to get the kids to do a bunch of different skills. Peanut kept jumping and doing seat drops instead, but the other kids were mainly just running around so I was just happy she was jumping :). And no fits! Yay Peanut!
The class finished up on trampoline and got stamps and ribbons for being twinkle stars. I was so proud of Peanut, she did awesome! What great progress for 8 weeks of class!
***I think I forgot to update with Day 3 lesson before but the kids did the same things they normally did, but started with the parachute for fun. The class seemed to have a blast!***
