Week 8, Day 1: Gymnastics

And so begins the last week of the term!  Crazy how quickly time passes!

The class on Monday started with the kids doing the bug matching game.  Peanut and I found three or four matches and she proudly brought them to Miss Lina - yay kiddo!  After the bug matching game the class went to bars.

Then the class went to the beam.  On beam the kids did donkey kicks on the floor beam, walked backwards (trying to do so by themselves) on the low beam, and did kicks on mid beam.  Miss Lina was trying to get Peanut to straighten her legs and point her toes while she did kicks.  Peanut only needed her to lightly touch her toes and she would point them right away :).

After beam came bars. Peanut had a great lesson and participated well in everything - flips, catching butterflies, and toes to the high bar/chin above the bar.  Another little girl, Addison, was having a difficult day and her mom kept threatening to leave the class but they never did.  I don't think Addison really did much of anything through any of the rotations.

When the group had made it through bars they went to trampoline.  Unfortunately there were six kids, so the group had to rotate through the trampoline station.  Peanut loves the trampoline and was having a hard time taking turns.  I got her calmed down, though, until the class moved to the tumble track.  She had a meltdown - she did NOT want to leave the trampoline.  I gave her a warning and told her if she couldn't calm down we were leaving early and I followed through.  When her fit started to escalate we left right away and didn't do the tumble track or the stamp that day.

I wasn't mad at all, but it's unsafe for her to be making so much noise and being so disruptive when kids are trying to do flips and other difficult things around her.  Plus, she has to know that throwing a fit is not the way to get what she wants.  We grabbed dinner on the way home and she was calmed down by the time we got home to eat.  :)
