Mackenzie did great at gymnastics on Monday! The class started out matching bugs, and with my help she participated and gave Miss Lina a couple of matches - yay kiddo!
From warm-up, the class went to bars I believe, where they did flips on the low bar, caught the butterflies one the first uneven bars set, and swung on the second uneven bars set. Peanut went through the stations two or three times and was doing a pretty good job! We just have to work on holding on still :).
After bars, the class went to beam, where they did forward roll on the floor beam, jumped from targets on the ground to the low beam, and walked backwards on the mid beam. Peanut was the best one in her class at walking backwards on the mid beam!! I was so proud :) She went through the beam stations twice, if I recall correctly.
Then the class went to the rock wall and the rope. The rock wall was a bit of a flop, but Peanut had SOOOO much fun sitting on the bottom knot of the rope and swinging back and forth. I held her legs closed so that she would stay on the rope and Miss Lina pushed her and held on to her back. She was giggling!
From the rope swing, the class went to trampoline and worked on connecting the doggie jump to a belly flop type jump. Peanut actually did it a few times, but I'm not sure it was intentional. She is doing so well at jumping!! One of the other parents actually commented on what a good job she was doing :).
After trampoline, the kiddos did something they haven't done before. With Miss Lina's help, they side stepped along the high beam (the beam that all of the competitive gymnasts use) and jumped into the foam pit. Peanut went for it and did great! So proud :). The class ended with paw print stamps. Yay Peanut!
